Rack Management

Keep a balanced rack with a mix of vowels and consonants. Aim for 3 vowels and 4 consonants. Avoid holding duplicates unless they form a useful combination like SS or LL.

Two-Letter Words Are Game-Changers

Memorize all valid 2-letter words. QI, ZA, XI, XU, JO, and KA are the highest-scoring. Playing parallel to an existing word using 2-letter combos can score 30+ points.

Triple Word Score Strategy

Control the board by playing near but not ON Triple Word Score (TWS) squares. Force your opponent to open them, then capitalize. A 7+ letter word on a TWS with the 50-point bingo bonus can score 100+ points.

The Bingo Bonus

Using all 7 tiles earns a 50-point bonus (a "bingo"). Common bingo-friendly racks include: -ING, -TION, -NESS, -MENT, -ABLE. Keep these endings when possible.

Q Without U Words

QI (11 pts), QOPH, QADI, QANAT, QINTAR, QINDAR, QWERTY, TRANQ, and SUQ. Memorize these to avoid being stuck with Q.

High-Value Letter Placement

Z, Q, X, and J are worth 8-10 points each. Place them on Double/Triple Letter Score squares for maximum impact. ZA on a DLS = 22 points from just 2 letters.

Defensive Play

Block premium squares from your opponent. Avoid opening Triple Word Scores. Keep the board tight in competitive play.

Endgame Strategy

Track remaining tiles. When the bag is empty, you can deduce your opponent's rack. Plan your final moves to maximize your score and minimize theirs.
